What is SimTrans?
SimTrans is a transactional tool that passes information between the Sigma Suite of products to automate and integrate certain processes and action certain operations.
Why use SimTrans?
Well, there are many reasons why you would be using this fantastic tool. First, Automation.
You most probably have other software that you use to run your business, which requires the repetition of certain processes, making daily tasks tedious and taking a long time to complete.
Let’s take stock for example. You might procure plates using your accounting system and then need to re-capture it in SigmaNEST for stock to align so that the programmers know what is available to nest on.
However, when using SimTrans, this can be done easily and automatically! A transaction can be set to be sent to SimTrans as soon as you procure the stock in your accounting system, which in return automatically books the stock in SigmaNEST for you. This allows you to simply create, delete or add existing sheets.
Another example is Geometry conversions. Most workshops use a CAD tool like SOLIDWORKS to do all of their drawings. These 3D models then need to be exported in individual parts as DXFs to be pulled into SigmaNEST in order to be nested. With SimTrans, these actions can all be done automatically without you having to lift a finger.

SimTrans can be set to monitor a specific file location, as soon as a CAD part is dropped in there. SimTrans takes that part, automatically converts them to SigmaNEST parts and flattens all necessary parts, then they become ready to be nested and posted in SigmaNEST.
