With the options window open, you can navigate through the various tabs and change your Mastercam Interface to your own liking. With a more efficient interface, every programmer should have an even better experience from within Mastercam.

2. Default Settings
Have you ever wondered why you have to fill the same parameters every time you select a specific Toolpath?
Well, Mastercam has the answer. Mastercam gives us the ability to save our own desired default properties, so we don’t need to keep on filling and selecting tick boxes every time we create a toolpath.
As you can see in the picture below, to save the default settings of a toolpath for future use, just fill the desired parameters, and click on the save button. Now, the next time you use this toolpath, your settings will open from this saved Configuration.

3. Custom Tools and Tool Libraries
Mastercam’s tool libraries provide efficient solutions for users’ modeling needs by enabling them to share and reuse both 2D and 3D tools precisely. Through taking the time upfront to set up proper tool libraries, users can save themselves countless hours of repetitive effort in future projects.
Establish your own Tool library with either the Mastercam tool manager or the libraries in Lathe and Mill to define size, shape, feed rate & speed precisely. Supplement this data by including “Manufacturer name”, code and grade for a quick reference when filtering tools. Leverage previous tips such as “Tool list”/’Setup sheet” for seamless integration onto machines once projects commence.
4. Invest in Custom Post Processors
Post-processing with Mastercam is a solution that can save valuable time and resources. Its impressive library of post processors, along with the ability to make custom edits from resellers, are great features for machinists. However, editing NC code carries risks like human error which could have serious consequences if not caught in due course.
At no cost, 90% of post changes can be done through a reseller. For more complex machines, there are specialized third-party developers with expertise in developing and selling Mastercam posts for convenience and accuracy – ensuring the NC code is error free when plugged into your machine.
