Mastercam Innovations That Stole the Show at IMTS 2024

3 minutes read

IMTS is the world’s premier event for makers, builders, and leaders in the manufacturing technology space.

Last year, Mastercam made a powerful impact at McCormick Place in Chicago, showcasing the cutting-edge features of Mastercam 2025 and introducing new innovations that are redefining what’s possible in machining.

From 9–14 September, IMTS 2024 brought global leaders and visionaries together, and Mastercam was front and centre — not just to highlight our latest advancements, but also to forge new partnerships, build brand recognition, and explore the future of manufacturing innovation.

Here are the top four highlights that had everyone talking at the Mastercam booth:

1. Collaborating with Dean Zelinsky on a Showpiece Aluminium Guitar

Custom guitar body designed and machined using Mastercam, demonstrating precision and creativity in CNC manufacturing.

One of the major attractions at the Mastercam booth was our collaboration with legendary guitar designer Dean Zelinsky.

Together, we unveiled a stunning aluminium hollow-body guitar, machined using Mastercam software.

Visitors had the opportunity to meet Dean in person and witness how advanced machining brings design to life.

The precision, artistry, and execution behind this project captivated both machinists and music lovers alike.

2. Eye-Catching Featured Parts with Industry Partners

Beyond the guitar, Mastercam’s presence at IMTS was packed with collaboration. We teamed up with key industry partners to produce impressive, intricate parts that drew crowds throughout the week.

Here are a few standout pieces featured at our booth:

  • A hockey goalie mask, designed in partnership with GROB and Emuge-Franken
  • A detailed Nike of Samothrace statue, created with Methods Machine Tools and Yasda
  • A festive and whimsical Gingerbread House, produced with Hermle and OSG USA

These parts weren’t just visual masterpieces — they demonstrated the power and versatility of Mastercam in real-world, high-precision applications.
