Microsoft products and report printing not working after SigmaNEST upgrade?

If your Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) has stopped working after an upgrade of your SigmaNEST software, or if you are getting an Access Violation or External Exception error when trying to print reports within SigmaNEST, it may be because of an incompatibility between 64-bit SigmaNEST and 32-bit Microsoft products. To solve these issues:

1. Download Microsoft Access Database Engine 2010, 64-bit to a folder on your desktop.
2. Check your computer’s Programs & Apps to see if Microsoft Access database engine 2010 is already installed, and if it is, uninstall it.
3. Hold down the Shift key and right-click on the downloaded .exe from Step 1. Select Copy as path.
4. From the start menu, type cmd and open the command prompt.
5. Paste the path from Step 3 and delete the quotation marks.
6. After the file path, input a space and type /passive.

1. Press Enter.
2. From the start menu, type regedit and open RegEdit. It should open to the last accessed location, but if it does not, enter the following path after Computer in the path field:

\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Common\FilesPaths

1. Right-click and delete the .dll file.

Note: If you do not have permission or rights to perform any of these steps on your computer, consult with your IT department.

Unable to preview or print reports?

If you get an error message when you try to preview or print a report, or SigmaNEST seems to just hang up or freeze, try troubleshooting these areas.

Incorrect path in the configuration

One of the most common errors is:

To resolve this error:

1. Go to the Tools Help tab and click Configuration.
2. Click Paths, and locate the Report File path.

1. If you recently updated SigmaNEST, the path might contain …/REPORTS90/.
2. Remove the “90” so that the path now includes just /REPORTS/, leaving the rest unchanged.
3. Click OK and try viewing the reports again. If there is still a problem, continue with these steps:
4. Copy the path into Windows Explorer.
5. If the path is not a valid location, find the correct folder.
   • By default, reports are located in C:\Users\Public\Documents\SNDATA\Reports\[user_language]. Note, there may be multiple SNDATA folders created from past parallel installations.
6. If the path is a valid location, you can replace the Reports.ini by:
   • Copying it from another SNDATA folder. 
   • Running the SigmaNEST installer, selecting Custom installation, and selecting SNDATA to reinstall the entire file structure.
   • Contacting Support so that we can supply the file.

Report Engine seems to be hung up

If you are trying to print, but nothing is happening, then the Report Engine might be stuck. Continuing to click Print will only add reports to the list to be printed.

To fix this problem:

1. Exit SigmaNEST. If the entire program is frozen:
   • Right click on your computer screen’s taskbar and select Task Manager.
   • Select SigmaNEST and click End Task in the bottom right corner.
2. Click the SigmaNEST Report Engine icon in the system tray.
3. Once the list loads, you can delete any duplicate files and acknowledge any errors.
   • Note any pending reports. Close the window and right-click on the system tray icon to exit.
   • Try to preview or print your report(s) again. If this action still fails, close SigmaNEST and:
4. Navigate to C:\Users\[YOUR_USER_NAME]\AppData\Local\SN\Print.
5. Delete all the contents of this folder, except the last one.
6. Try to preview or print your report(s) again. If it still fails, restart your computer.
