Do you ever get frustrated setting up the same settings over and over?
Here are 3 things that will save you time on every start up.
1. Machine selected as default.
You can predefine your required Machine to start up when you open Mastercam.
In Mastercam go to FILE and select configuration.
When you are in system configuration look for START/EXIT and select which product to start up with.
Once startup product is selected, navigate to DEFAULT MACHINES and define your most frequently used machine definition.
Select APPLY then OKAY and exit.
Close Mastercam and open it to check if your new changes have taken affect.
2. Edit Operation Library to your requirements.
Making all the necessary settings for toolpath parameters, can always save you time. If you know what parameters you set every time, follow these steps.
In Mastercam Machine Group Properties go to FILES.
Then open the operations default.
For this, contour parameters were used.
Work through each menu as you normally and set each parameter as needed. This will always be set once you open the contour toolpath parameters. This simply helps save you time, not having to check each menu is set correctly.
Select okay to apply these changes
3. Setting up to use your tool library.
Navigate to MACHINE in top Menu bar.
Select Machine Definition
Select Okay
Select general parameters
Open the file location to select your personal tool library.
Select the required library and click OPEN.
Agree to all the prompts to apply the changes.
Most of the time, users will edit tools from the default tool library as they go about programming a job. How convenient will it be to take all those tools once the job is complete, with all the feeds and speeds defined, and add it to your own library.
Here’s how to do it!!
In the Toolpaths menu bar at the top, select Tool Manager.
Select the tools used from the completed job and use the drop arrow to add them to your own created library.
Applying these settings once, will significantly improve your method of programming. Saving time on your initial setup not only speeds up programming, it will get jobs on the machines quicker. If you can get jobs on the machine more frequently you will in turn keep the machine working for longer.
This has a huge impact on the overall outcome in terms of productivity.
